Puget Sound Fling post #2

Our first day's lunch was in the Froggsong Garden. As we walked through the gate, we were struck by the amazing blue hydrangea along the pathway. This was just the beginning of the garden of hydrangeas!

This beauty was so deep blue, just amazing!

As we walked along the path, more hydrangeas greeted us. This one had florets similar to lilacs, some blue and some lavender, all on the same shrub.

Same hydrangea as the photo above

This garden is also an event space where there have been weddings. The allèe below is an archway of Hornbeam trees for the bride to walk through. Doesn't that look like a great entrance for a bride?

Beyond the allèe was a sunken pollinator garden, full of so many blooms!

Such a colorful setting!
More of the hydrangeas we drooled over- most cultivars are not known, those that I got a name for are labeled accordingly.

Unknown beauty

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Seaside Serenade Fire Island'- thanks to Kathleen Hennessy for the ID

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Star Gazer'

This photo above made me laugh, not sure who is under the canopy but there was serious conversation going on.

One more post on day #1 of the Fling coming soon.

  1. Seaside Serenade Fire Island was the second hydrangea to start changing my mind about how fabulous these are. Loving these modern varieties. And, that variegated dogwood tree was amazing. Wish I had been under there to overhear what they were talking about!

    1. Jerry, there were so many hydrangeas that made me want to play more! We have so many deer in my wooded garden. That variegated dogwood with the people under it sure made me laugh.
